1927 Ford Roaster
October/06
Just looking at this 1927 Ford Roaster pickup , it just says old school . I have taken pictures of this car over the years , at S&S and the powerama . Looking at the car you might be thinking what high end rod shop built it . But to my surprise , this rod is hand built by the owner . Dave fabricated , the chassis , radius rods , bracketry , grille and pickup box . Another thing you dont see is the side steer any more . The front and rear suspension riding on a single spring set up is very unique . Just a nice looking roaster from any angle . With a nice coat of red paint , accented with a little black . With just the right amount of chrome to finish it off .
Open the hood and you will find a Ford small block (351 Windsor) . And thats about all that will fit into this super small engine compartment . Very clean and organized , with Ford chromed valve covers and air cleaner . With a street master intake , 4 barrel carter carb . , and headers . I like the louvers on the side covers not only highly functional at getting rid of motor heat , but also looks good .
Running the power through a dual shift , Ford C4 trans. . To a 8" Ford rear , with 2:79 gears , with posi . Because of the extra power , front discs were added with drums on the rear .
Keeping the look original with steel rims , 47 Ford caps with ribbed beauty rings . With 145SR15s on the front and 225/70/15s on the back .
Other notables Dietz head lights , with 47 Ford tail lights . Also the windshield has been chopped to 14" . Interior work done by Classic Auto Upholstery .
