Nitrobike 2006 - Qualifying round
Has the world gone to the dogs ? These 2 guys would sure like us to think so , and as track official (Phil Hall ) finds out . You just never know when a T bone steak might come in handy .
The weather at Castrol Raceway stayed dry , on the fathers day weekend . But there was some big time wind on Saturday , gusting up to 50 klm hr.. Its a damn good thing it was mostly straight out of the west . Wind is not a bikes friend , where a head wind is a factor a cross wind is out right treacherous . HRC sure did'nt think there would be any track records broken , but to my surprise the #1 Qualifyer got damn close with an impressive 6:65 et. ( track record ; 6:63 ) .
Heres Steve (Cougar Paint and Collision ) showing us how he can air brush in the wind,
a very impressive artist . He also had some finished products on site , looking more like pictures than paint . What ever you can dream up he can paint it !
One thing HRC likes is innovation , as you have seen in past Nitro bike races . I have taken shots of this bike ( the Monster ) I call it . And slowly but surely its coming together
not fast enough for my liking , as it may not be ready for our last Nitro race of the yr. . It would be a shame , not having its first runs on its home track , but thats show biz .
Here is some Saturday Qualifying action ! Off the line and in the burn out box .
Hope you enjoy the photos .
